Bespoke Rail Tour Itinerary Testimonial from Mrs Jo Hay, France Summer 2011
What Mrs Hay said:-
In the Spring 2011 RailTourGuide planned for me a 3 week rail tour that took me from Thurso to Plymouth. I love trains and I travel on my own. I had a fantastic trip. I travelled from Inverness to the breathtaking Kyle of Lochalsh. After a few days on Skye I took the Mallaig railway that takes you through woods, alongside lochs, across rivers, over viaducts, through tunnels to Fort William. Then I went on to Crianlarich, on the West Highland Way, amidst wild mountains, then onto Oban, with more scenic locations. After visiting Mull, Iona and Staffa, my route took me to Tarbet, Helensburgh and Glasgow. My next stop was Windermere. I had nearly reached the end of my trip: I headed south, to the medieval city of Chester, then Cardiff and, for my last leg, I took the scenic Great Western Railway to Devon and stopped in Plymouth. Everything went according the travel plan I was given. The train times were convenient, the journeys weren’t too long and the sceneries so beautiful I must go back to see some on them again. In other words I enjoyed my trip immensely, and if I did, it was because it had been properly planned. I am very grateful to RailTourGuide and ready to start again.
We planned a 3 week rail tour for Mrs Jo Hay which took in Scotland, The Lake District and The South West and we advised on hotels for Mrs Hay to stay.
What the Bolton Family from the USA said: -
My family of four (Mom, Dad and two teen daughters) recently returned from our first trip to England, Ireland and Paris. We had three weeks for the trip and had never planned anything like this. When we were trying to plan our portion time in England, I was overwhelmed by ways to tour this country. I wasn't sure I could handle driving and my husband wanted to travel by train.
After searching tour company after tour company, I stumbled upon a company called RailTourGuide. It's a new company run by two great train men, David and Scott. They collaborated with us, using their knowledge of the train systems, helping us plan a 6 day tour. We saw more of England in those six days than I could have imagined. Plus we were comfortable and felt relaxed.
Scott accompanied us for the entire trip, and David visited with us one of the days as well. I cannot stress enough how personable these two were and continue to be so. We planned the trip with them 6 months in advance and they were in continuous email communication with us throughout the time of planning until we arrived in England.

Scott then came the night before our trip with him began to meet us. When we needed a car for distances, he arranged it. When we needed taxis, he arranged them. He assisted us with our hotel reservations and information about the remainder of our trip, after we departed from him and had a few days on our own.
In all my travels, 20 years of hiring companies to tour us, I have never found a better company. They were very professional and yet personable. They are a great company to consider for any tour of England (2 days to 6 days, and possibly longer if you wish). The cost was significantly lower than what you would expect.
And shortly after we returned home, we received a cd and dvd of our tour, pictures Scott had taken of us and for us during our fantastic trip!
What Stan and Barbara from Surrey, UK said:-
David,
We would like to thank you so much for giving us a brilliant day out on the 12th oct.

What an interesting train journey. We were really impressed with the Ribblehead viaduct and the surrounding views, we could have spent the whole day there.

The meal in the pub was excellent. Your knowledge of the viaduct, and indeed of everywhere else we went that day, is amazing.
This is enhanced by the fact that you know so many people who work for the different rail companies.
You have no idea what it means not to have to think about train times, where to eat, etc. All we had to do was to follow you and enjoy the day.
Congratulations on a first class tour. We hope we can do something similar in the future.
Many thanks and regards
Stan and Barbara from Surrey,UK.
